Starting out by hiking up the trail towards Garibaldi Lake, you will veir off about 3km shy of the lake towards Taylor meadow along a mix of trail and boardwalks while you meander through a sea of fragrant wildflowers. At a junction, you will have the option to carry on to Panorama Ridge where you will scramble up a section of rock to the summit overlooking Black tusk and the alpine valleys in one direction and the stunning vista of glacial mountains and a sea of blue that is Garibaldi lake. Or – Black Tusk, an open ridge of shale and loose rock, with views looking back on Panorama Ridge and Garibaldi Lake.
You will enjoy your self packed, well earned lunch before returning the way you came with the option of looping down to Garibaldi lake if time permits.
This hike is not for the faint of heart, at around 30km’s round trip this makes for a very long and challenging day so experience with hiking distances will be essential.
