Calling all snow-lover women! We are offering an avalanche awareness workshop on snowshoes.

Have you been thinking of taking the leap from ski resort to the backcountry? Avalanche education is the first step! BeWild!, in partnership with Les Chèvres, are offering you a unique experience to learn in a safe and friendly environment. Get ready to join a fantastic community of outdoorsy women that will inspire you to push your skills and build confidence in the mountains!

We provide you with all the avalanche gear, so you don’t need to worry about spending expensive amounts before knowing what gear will keep you safe out there.

Location: Callaghan Valley, Whistler, BC.

This is for you if...

  • You are a lover of the mountains and looking for a community of badass outdoorsy women to share your adventures with.
  • You want to take your skills to the backcountry but don’t know where to start.
  • You are thinking of taking an Avalanche Skill Training but want to know more before signing up.
  • You have a billion questions about the backcountry and are looking for a safe and welcoming community to address them.
  • You love mountains and laughter!

What to expect...

  • A beautiful snowshoe hike adapted to all skill and fitness levels

  • 10:00 AM - Meeting, Registration, Mingle
  • 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM - Trip planning activity & snowshoeing
  • 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM - Lunch at the viewpoint
  • 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM - Avalanche terrain awareness and beacon practice activity
  • 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM - Snowshoeing back to the parking lot. Closing

What to Bring...

  • Daypack: large enough to hold extra clothes, food, shovel, probe, etc. Approx. 30+ litres
  • Winter boots
  • Outerwear jacket
  • Outerwear pants
  • Warm clothing
  • Gloves: proper winter-weight style gloves + extra pair. Hand warmers and extra mitts if conditions are very cold
  • Tuque/warm hat
