We are BeWild!

We are two moms and long time friends who have a love for the great outdoors.
There is just something about being up on a mountain, looking all around you at this province's natural beauty that is so liberating, making you take a step back and really see what the important things in life are.  Ideas we instill in our children and want to share with others.

BeWild! Adventures & Wellness Inc., is the result of our common passion for seeking ultimate health physically, mentally, and spiritually. Reconnecting with ones-self both in body and environment leads to a more meaningful and healthful life. We want to bring experiences to you that optimize your love of life and ultimately, health.

Having found such profound gratification in our adventures, both thrill seeking and serene, we want to create more adventures with you.

About Amber

Coming from a small town in Northern BC and having a self proclaimed "bushman" for a father, I think I was predisposed
to becoming somewhat outdoorsy. There were a lot of camping trips, fishing trips, hunting trips (not my thing!), ski trips, trail rides and weekends at the lake, just to name a few.

When we made the move to the big city (Vancouver, BC) all
of that outdoor stuff stopped. I gained a lot of weight. I also found out that I have weak bones and joints, something that I was born with.

My doctor advised me that my bones may never break because they flex, but one day they might shatter (that's a little terrifying to think about!!) and that the best preventative measure is to build more muscle mass to hold everything together, so to speak. It took a few years but eventually I did it right and lost all the weight and built some good muscle mass. To change things up a bit I started hiking and fell in love with the outdoors again.  I have since been on a mission to do everything I am afraid of or didn't think I could do, just to say I did.  I have had the most exhilarating experiences, created some incredible memories and met some wonderful people in the process

About Sharon

Throughout my life, I have been interested in holistic health and living my life in a way embracing experience and learning.  I strive to live my life to the fullest, in all aspects.  Much like the First Nations use the medicine wheel for health, I believe our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual selves should be in balance for us to have optimum health.  We are all here to love ourselves, each other and to have opportunities for growth and of bliss.  I want to engage people in experiences that change or challenge them on all these different areas.
Through the many challenges I’ve experienced, I’ve gained and continue to gain much valuable perspective on life.

In my life, I fill multiple roles.  First and foremost, I’m a mother to three beautiful girls.  I’m a RN (Registered Nurse) and I am an athlete, in my own sense.  We all are.  We should love our bodies and minds and challenge them physically, even when it is uncomfortable at times (at our own speed).  I love thrill seeking. I love mountain biking, climbing, surfing, hiking, skiing and running. I am a lover of people, I get so much satisfaction, in seeing people enjoy being alive. I am a spiritual seeker. I enjoy meditation and learning and gaining wisdom on a spiritual level. I encourage people to live in the moment.

I began leading hikes and adventures after finding my passion through organizing outdoor events through social media and some outdoor groups and have been leading groups since 2013.  I also hold my Wilderness First Responder Certification in addition with my medical training, I want people to feel secure in knowing that I will take every measure to protect and maintain their health and safety.  So, let’s get outside! Explore! Have some fun!

How it all started…

One afternoon after a hike, Sharon and I were discussing our latest adventures and what’s up next. We talked about how awesome it makes us feel when people comment on social media about how cool our trips look.  One thing that stood out though, was people saying, “I wish I could do that too”.  Well why not?  The common answers seemed to always be “because I am not in good enough shape”, “because I have no one to do these things with” or “because I would just hold everyone back”.

It was in that conversation that we thought, well… why can’t we take people?  We'd keep it personal with small groups of people at similar fitness levels.  If there is one thing I have learned about Sharon over the years is that she is a fantastic, loving, and fearless leader!  Any excursion led by her is bound to be memorable.

To prove to ourselves that we were committed and that this is really something we wanted to pursue, we decided to organize an event that would introduce us and raise money for charities that are important to us.  Enter ‘Zumba Summer Solstice Shakedown’.

We learned so much about ourselves, who we are and where we are headed when we organized the "Shakedown” and we had the best time!  Sure there were things that we would do different or better in future events (because "if I knew then what I know now...) but I cannot express how incredibly rewarding it was to organize the event, meet and work with such phenomenal people for such great causes.  To all of you who were involved and to those of you who came… YOU ROCK!!!!!

Next, we decided to test our versions of "easy" trails on some willing beginner level hikers.  We chose a trail that although steep, is short, offering a taste of what some of the more advanced trails may hold.  My mom  was one of the nine who volunteered to be part of our test group (awe, such a supportive mommy!). The look of pride on her face when she climbed up that last rock made me so damn proud!  This is a woman whom years ago, smashed her foot so bad she almost lost it!  I knew then, that this is what we are meant to do.  Help other people realize that they CAN, and be there to witness their moment.

Then, we decided to start up our own BeWild! Adventures Meetup group.

For members in this group, we offer some free guided hikes where you supply your own gear, supplies and transportation.  We also organize and facilitate many other beginner-intermediate level activities such as Zip-lining, Snowmobiling, ATV, River-rafting, Archery Tag, Kayaking and much more!

After testing many similar activities with different adventure companies, (it's a tough job, but somebodies got to do it!), we are compiling a list of the best activities, in our opinion, that are the most exciting (or offer the best bang for your buck!) and partnered with those amazing companies to offer you competitive options that are tried and true ;)

Do you want to become more adventurous but don't really know where to start?  Are you new to the area or just visiting?   Do you have ideas of adventures you would like to see organized?

We are always searching for new ideas, get in touch. We are all ears!
